From Desk to Drinks: Easy Work-to-Weekend Outfit Ideas
Closet overwhelm is something that too many of us have to deal with these days.
Not sure what I’m talking about? It’s that feeling when your closet feels like a sea of clothes, and not in a particularly good way.
Nothing jumps out at you, so you find yourself constantly pushing through hangers and sifting through items only to find the same old clothes you always wear, pieces that don’t fit anymore, or items you never got around to wearing because you didn’t know how to style them.
Sound familiar now?
Here’s the thing … getting dressed every day shouldn't feel like a chore!
It definitely shouldn’t feel like a fight. The key is to be able to easily see and access every item in your wardrobe, and know how to mix and match them effortlessly.
So, how can you beat closet overwhelm and reach a place of peace and satisfaction? Below I’ll be sharing a simple trick that will help make your closet easier to navigate, as well as the top 3 things I’m adding to my cart this April.
The Easiest Way To Reduce Closet Overwhelm
One of my favorite ways to reduce closet overwhelm is to simply rotate your wardrobe twice a year, at the start of each season.
If you haven't already, now is the perfect time to switch over your wardrobe from fall/winter to spring/summer.
By keeping only your current season's clothes in your closet, getting dressed becomes so much easier because you won’t have to sift through the pieces that don’t make sense anymore.
You can still keep transitional pieces like blazers and light knits, but you’ll definitely want to stow away any heavy fabrics such as thick knits, tweed, or velvet.
If you have the space, consider storing your cold-weather wardrobe in storage bins or another closet to simplify your daily dressing routine. If not, just push your cold weather pieces to the back of your closet so that your seasonal pieces are front and center.
It may seem like a simple concept, but I’ve noticed that many women overlook the benefits of a seasonal wardrobe rotation. Trust me - it's a game-changer!
By keeping unseasonal pieces out of sight and out of mind, you'll streamline your daily decision-making processes and find that getting dressed is a breeze again.
Still feeling uninspired with your seasonal selection? You can always enhance your spring wardrobe with April’s Elevated 3, a few of my favorite style picks for the month. No matter your age, these fresh finds are sure to inspire your warm-weather wardrobe.

The Pop Of Color Sandal: It's finally time to swap out your boots for sandals! And what better way to show off your fresh pedi than with a pop of color sandal? This year the dopamine dressing trend continues, with bold hues remaining a major trend for footwear. A bright sandal is the perfect way to add a subtle pop of color to any outfit. From neon pinks to electric blues, there’s a bold shade out there for everyone. Your feet will also rejoice because 2023’s heels are low, comfortable, and incredibly wearable from day to night.
Different Denim: Denim is a classic that never goes out of style, but this season’s iterations will make you look at the timeless fabric in a different light. Instead of sticking to your typical jeans or denim jacket, consider switching things up with different forms of denim. This spring, denim is taking on new forms, from 90s-inspired skirts to dresses, jumpsuits, and even blazers. The trend is all about experimenting with denim in unexpected ways, so denim lovers are encouraged to go all out.
Essential Linen Pants: For the days when you want to look polished but still feel cool and comfortable, linen pants are a must-have. Linen is a lightweight and breathable fabric that is perfect for spring and summer, and it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Whether you pair them with a blouse and heels for the office or a tank top and sandals for the weekend, linen pants are the ultimate versatile piece for your warm weather wardrobe.
